I remember sitting there with my head in my hands wondering why wouldn’t the number on the scale go down??!! I worked hard, didn’t I? I ate right, didn’t I? I felt like I had done all the right things and still I didn’t seem to be making any progress. This would sometimes go on for weeks and weeks on end. The worst was when the number on the scale actually went up and here I was thinking I was doing so well and working so hard. The answer for me wasn’t obvious, but it did eventually come to me. What’s more, you can create and attract far more money, health or happiness (or anything good) in your life than you currently may be doing with one simple adjustment in your life that should only take about 5 minutes of your time to implement. It has been said for many years that your mind has control over your body. Mind over matter thinking has been applied to weight loss, financial prosperity, anything that people have struggled with and overcome.
So if that is all there is to it, why don’t we all just master this one and be done with it?
Simple, there’s a missing link here. That would be your heart, your inner wisdom, the spiritual component that can guide you through things that your mind just can’t master 100% of the time. This wisdom can be captured through meditation or the simple act of quieting your mind and listening to your heart.
So, does that mean our mind doesn’t matter? Of course not, we need that thing to be working too or we’d forget everything. What is the new, better paradigm?
Heart over Mind over Matter
Now you got the juice to make it happen. That’s what I did when I finally realized I couldn’t think my way through my health problems. I had to feel my way through and listen carefully to my heart for direction.
What is your heart trying to tell you?

I was speaking with Brian Greenberg yesterday from WNJC who had lost 15 lbs this year himself and was interested in what I could add to his show. I asked him what it is his audience could use help with the most and he replied, “Keeping the weight off. We can all lose the initial pounds but how do we sustain it long term?”
There is a common misunderstanding in how to bring about one’s perfect weight, or anything a person desires for that matter and sustain it. This is the reason diets fail 97% of the time and will continue to do so forever until this core issue is addressed. What is that issue? We never learn how to be the weight we want to be, we just know we want to have our bodies weight that much and do whatever is required to get there. What does that mean?

Often in life we’re faced with these things we label as problems; we’re tired, don’t have enough money or time, feeling bad, having trouble with someone or something or don’t feel like we’re living the incredible life we could be living. Yes, these are the things we call problems. The next thing we are traditionally trained to do is to (if we have the desire or energy) go out there and fight those problems, wage a war on them, sometimes. Ultimately, this doesn’t prevail. Ironically, this creates more of the problem because that is what we are focused on and we bring more of that to us in the law of attraction based universe.
I realized this at a deep level when I set out to release weight over 3 years ago. I realized that somehow I had to make friends, the best I could, with my problems. I had to stop viewing them as an obstacle or opponent that needed to be battled and at the start, just let them be as I tried to figure out another way. Later in my journey of what started as weight loss, I came to the epiphany, with the help of much guidance from the likes of Tony Robbins (how to hit your peak), Hale Dwoskin (how to let go), Jack Canfield (how to model success), Wayne Dyer (how to find peace) and Louise Hay (how to heal yourself) that if you view your problems as opportunities then you open up a whole new world and a whole new way of viewing them. This is also sometimes referred to as reframing your problems and it can be a life changing skill to learn.
So, how could a problem be an opportunity? Simple. Anything area in your life that is creating some sort of discomfort is an area where you have the opportunity to feel better. This problem serves to give you contrast to that which do not want which will give birth, ultimately to the desire of that which you do want and the relief comes in when you start moving toward that. The opportunity is that the problem shows you immediately an area of life where you can feel better. Sick? Think of what it would be like to be completely healthy. Depressed? Think of what it would be like to be joyously happy. Tired? How would it feel to have more energy than you knew what to do with? All things that are possible, all things that give you incredible opportunity to make the most out of the wonderful life experience we have all been given.
