The truth about weight release, diets and fat loss

Goodbye Food Pyramid

Times, they are a-changin.

Well, over the years the food pyramid has taken it’s fair share of scrutiny, revisions and old fashioned beatings, but all that is over now. First Lady Michele Obama has taken down the might pyramid and replaced it with a much simpler model called my plate which is demonstrated at ChooseMyPlate.gov where you can find the latest healthy eating recommendation.

I certainly remember this relic of an icon growing up as people were trying to teach me how to eat properly, people who I think may have been more confused than I was, but in any event, my hat is off to the first lady for shaking things up a bit.

Her message and aim was one to help benefit the children with a simpler, easier to understand and follow image.

“If the filled plate looks like the symbol, with lots of fruits and vegetables,” she said, “then we’re good, it’s as simple as that.”

The new design was a collaboration of over 4500 people, including children. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack said, “What we have learned over the years is that consumers are bombarded by so many nutrition messages that it makes it difficult to focus on changes that are necessary to improve their diet.”

Sound familiar?

Amen, brother Tom!

Hey…I’ve always believed that the answers we need to seek are simpler and more direct, not complicated and more convoluted. This First Lady is really making things happen out there to help prevent obesity, the NUMBER 1 KILLER in the world, and I am literally standing on my seat applauding her right now.

You go girl!
